Best app on the AppStore
Honestly, this app is the best app I could ever have asked for. A detailed, precise and informative dictionary, a quiz fonction to learn new words from different topics or categories, etc: This app has everything.

The best out there, but!
Please bring back the function to alternate between Kanji (to the left/right) in a compound within the search bar. This function was essential in previous versions!
Example:
Searching for …大 brings up 広大 etc.
Searching for 大… brings up 大学 etc.

A must have
Seriously, if you study Japanese and have an iPhone, you have to get this. It being a offline dictionary alone is worth it. But it's got a lot to offer.
What I don't like is the lack of a list of all words in order like in the older version. And also it no longer support multitasking, so the app resets everytime you press the home button. Also the name is just bad.

Great, need iOS 8 / iPhone 6 update
Great app for people studying Japanese. Needs an update for iOS 8 and/or iPhone 6 though, as it currently crash when using the Study feature on flash cards.

Excellent app, but...
This is an excellent app. Countless of times have I found myself saved by being able to write a kanji to understand its meaning, or all of its great features to study using flash cards, and the likes.
However. The one thing I can think of that I'd really like to see implemented is a list of which particles to use. Sometimes, it's a little bit hard to know if a verb is transitive or intransitive, for instance - hence the particle is the only saving grace, unless you've already memorized them. An example would be 回す and 回る. Anyway, I'm still going to rate this five stars, but it'd be nice to see this addition later on, if possible.

Excellent value
Since a lot of updates, this app continues to be my first choice of Japanese dictionary. Kanji-handwriting and sentence add-ability makes it now perfect! I wonder though if the "flying" words at startup screen doesnt make it a tiny bit slower?

Handwriting tool
I've been using this app for over a year and I've really missed the handwriting tool, i've used the Chinese one. I'm happy its in the new update but it crashes sometimes and the recognition isn't even half as good as the Chinese one. If that could be fixed I would be happy!

Extremely versatile
The most useful japanese dictionary I have found so far and I use it daily both for looking up words and grammar recaps. Have used JLTP Study and Japanese 2000 for flash card learning but this app is the best for navigating through kanjis, including stroke orders, as well as translation both japanese to english and vice versa. I love the intuitive and extensive navigation capabilities, basically everything can be used as a reference and link to related words or meanings. Looking forward to trying out the ipad version...

Instead of buying a electronic dictionary I bought this app. Worked fine with the Japanese lessons and situations in Japan!!

My favorite dictionary!
The good:
You can search for verbs in different forms, it also list the different forms for verbs. Not even the real denshi jishos offers that function. The examples are great and "Japanese" doesn't have to go online to show more of them. The flashcards are brilliant as well, using "the usual" 5 step method, making this app such a nice tool for my japanese classes. Look up word in class. Go through the flashcards when I get home.
The bad:
A bit pricey.
Wishlist:
I WISH this app had handwriting input. The iphone-built-in chinese handwriting isn't good enough! Many japanese kanjis doesn't match up with their chinese counterpart. Also a "Copy to clipboard (append)" function would be nice.
Sometimes I want to search for words where I know the first kanji, but only the reading for the second.That is, searching using kanji, hiragana, romanji MIXED input. I have yet not found one dictionary to complete that task though. Add this and my life would be complete. ;)

Great program for learning kanji and vocabulary. Many nice and useful features, like kanji stroke order. Don't hesitate, get it now and improve your japanese.

Awesome!
Once you have got past the basic grammar and pronounciation (Pimsleur's and maybe "Human japanese", another great program) and want to start learning Kanji's and build a vocabulary, this is the program. With the upgrades in 2.0 it's the best japanese learning program on the iPhone. There are other programs that does almost the same thing, but not all at once and they are not as pretty.

A Japanese Gem
I have used the first version daily. Version 2 is not an upgrade, it is a new program. It is awesome! There are too many new features to list them here. The many sample sentences will come in very handy. Try tapping on unfamiliar kanji in the examples, cool!

Needs improvement
I had high hopes for this app after all its high reviews. Sure, its quite good but some functionality is flawed.
The search function is what's disturbs me the most. From my experience, searching for a word will often require the complete word (or almost complete word) to be filled in before it finds it... For instance おもしろい will not add the word in the results until I have typed おもしろ... This behavior is quite dominant and simple words are not found at all. Other problems are that large lists (kanji JLPT 2 and 1) the list is very sluggish and fast swipes up/down is more or less impossible. Strange as the initial "all" list is working quite fine.
The price for this app is a bit on the heavy side as all the dictionaries comes from open source projects.
As I already payed for the app, I just hope that the 2.0 update will make this more of a working dictionary than just a list of words with a fancy layout.

Det bästa lexikonet för iPod Touch/iPhone. Men..
Priset kommer att vara mer välmotiverat med en flash card-funktion. Detta är annars ett ganska välfungerande lexikon. Dock inte mycket mer än en nödlösning om du inte har tillgång till internet och det fulländade jisho.org som dessutom finns anpassat för vår plattform.
